A Needle In Time Christmas Quilt

Hubby gave me many special Christmas presents in 2013 and one of those very special presents was a book that he wrote for me! Read on….

A Needle In Time Christmas Quilt

He named it “A Needle In Time”, dedicated it to me “The Sewing Princess” and used me as the main character. He wrote it in 5 days. No wonder he was staying up til 3-4 in the morning writing this for me!

I made this quilt because its pictured in the book.

I’m so thankful that he took time to write me a story and research about quilts. Quilting is one of my passions and escape.

Here is just a bit of the beginning of the story…

She was just a little baby girl when her mother gave her away to the town orphanage. The mother was young and alone; she sobbed as she kissed her baby one last time. She made sure that she was wrapped tight in a quilted blanket and laid her in a basket right by a large wooden door. The night air was chill and her breath was visible. She nervously looked around and to no one’s notice she took off her gloves. A brilliant light began to gleam forth from her hands and pour out in all directions. She reached down and touched the baby. Her eyes closed and she uttered some words, perhaps a blessing; the light began to grow so bright that the whole street was illuminated like the day. There was a loud knock on the door, and the woman was gone in a flash.

I took my story and went into our room so that I could read it from beginning to end without any interruptions.

It was so hard not to have a red pen and mark all the mistakes, but I love the story just the way it is. Maybe someday he will change the names in the story, get it edited, and have it published. What do you think?

I custom machined feathers in the blocks. Do you have a quilt that needs quilting? Check out my Longarm Quilting page.
